WAWIRKA – Solid Bronze Basins
” Wawirka Inc. was created in 1999 by Julie Wawirka, a ceramic artist working with thrown and altered forms and exhibiting in galleries throughout the Northwest. Julie entered the kitchen and bath world when the need for a new bath sink in her own home arose. Realizing that she needed a more substantial medium than porcelain in order to execute the delicate altered edges that her work was known for, she found cast bronze. A metal that has been used in art for centuries, bronze is as lasting as it is strong and acquires a beautiful natural patina over time as it changes and evolves with the environment. Julie located a foundry to work with located just outside Portland and the first vessel was cast in bronze”

Mosaico Micro – Surfaces
“Crushed ground and pigmented, glass from discarded CRT monitors, mixed with water, creates the material which will then be molded.
Unlike porcelain stoneware, Mosaicomicro is obtained by casting, rather than by pressing, through an industrial process that always requires human intervention to emphasize the texture and color of the tiles. A continuous and dynamic single surface, whose materiality is enhanced by the light.
It’s always different, always unique and inimitable, it mimics nothing, it simply is what it is: a new material”
