Inspired by tradition, reimagined through light and stone.
In the Campidano plains of Sardinia, traditional baskets known as Corbulas were once essential tools used by women to carry and measure flour—often balanced gracefully on their heads. Handcrafted from intertwined hay and cane fibers, these deep, round baskets were adorned with colorful brocade and wool accents, featuring patterns inspired by local wildlife and nature. Historically, Corbulas were also used as rustic wall décor in farmers’ homes, often displayed in clusters. This project draws inspiration from that decorative use, focusing on the intricate base of the basket—its most detailed and artistic element. Each piece is enhanced with a radiant halo of LED light, turning functional heritage into sculptural design.
